The Dimensions of Place in Najwa Bin Shatwan’s Novel Concerto Qurina Eduardo

Abstract

  This research endeavors to explore the "dimensions of space" in Najwa Bin Shatwan’s novel, Concerto Qurina Eduardo, adopting a descriptive-analytical approach. It aims to deconstruct the narrative space through five primary dimensions—psychological, social, historical, political, and religious—in order to unveil their symbolic connotations. The study reveals that space transcends its role as a mere rigid geographical framework, emerging instead as an active narrative agent that reflects violent transformations, the collapse of social classes, and the hegemony of power. Furthermore, the findings illustrate how places have metamorphosed into mirrors embodying the characters' alienation, identity conflicts, and the attempts to reconstruct a lost collective memory. Ultimately, the research underscores the author's profound ingenuity in utilizing the text's geography as a living document that defies oblivion, confronting material and political devastation with a majestic spiritual history.
