Authorship Policy

The Journal of Libyan Academy Bani Walid (JLABW) follows internationally recognized authorship standards in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure proper recognition of genuine scientific contributions and protect the rights of all contributors involved in research preparation.

1. Authorship Criteria

An author is considered a person who has made a substantial and direct scientific contribution to the research through one or more of the following:

  • Active participation in the conception, design, or implementation of the study.
  • Contribution to data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Contribution to drafting the manuscript or critically revising its scientific content.
  • Approval of the final version of the manuscript before submission for publication.

Individuals who have not made a genuine scientific contribution must not be listed as authors. Likewise, contributors who have made substantial contributions should not be excluded from authorship.

2. Order of Authors

  • The order of authors should reflect the extent and nature of each researcher’s scientific contribution.
  • The authorship order must be agreed upon by all members of the research team before manuscript submission.
  • The first author or corresponding author is primarily responsible for communication with the journal and managing the peer-review and publication process.

3. Authors’ Responsibilities

All authors are required to:

  • Ensure the originality of the research and its freedom from plagiarism.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the data, results, and conclusions presented.
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Declare funding sources or research support, if applicable.
  • Notify the journal immediately if significant errors are discovered after publication.

4. Authorship Declaration

All authors must provide an authorship declaration confirming:

  • Approval of the final version of the manuscript.
  • Acceptance of shared responsibility for the content of the research.
  • Agreement to be listed as authors.
  • Confirmation of their actual scientific contributions to the study.

5. Authorship Disputes

  • Research and academic institutions affiliated with the authors are responsible for investigating and resolving authorship disputes.
  • The journal does not mediate internal disputes among researchers but reserves the right to suspend the publication process or withdraw a manuscript if an unresolved authorship dispute exists.

6. Changes to Authorship

  • Any request to add, remove, or modify the order of authors must be submitted to the journal with clear scientific justification.
  • Any changes to the author list require written approval from all original authors.
  • Changes after publication will only be considered in exceptional cases and after editorial review.
