The Role of Libyan Governmental Institutions in Combating Illegal Migration within the Framework of International Relations

Abstract

The study aims to identify the role of governmental institutions in addressing the phenomenon of illegal migration within the framework of international relations. The researcher discussed a set of issues related to the research problem, particularly illegal migration in the context of international relations between Italy and Libya.

The study adopted the inductive method to examine the phenomenon of illegal migration and to clarify the concept of legal migration and the differences between legal and illegal migration. The research problem lies in the fact that illegal migration causes significant tensions in international relations between Italy and Libya.

The importance of the study lies in identifying the extent of cooperation between Libyan and Italian authorities in addressing illegal migration. The study focuses on the theoretical framework of illegal migration, its history, and the distinction between legal and illegal migration.

Furthermore, the phenomenon of illegal migration is explained through various theoretical perspectives and models. The study also addressed the methods used by Libyan governmental institutions to combat illegal migration.

The study reached several findings, including that the issue of illegal migration has led Italy to consider resettling illegal migrants in Libya, which reflects a crisis in international relations between the two countries. Additionally, Libya suffers from this phenomenon as a transit country, where illegal migrants enter Libyan territory and then cooperate with human traffickers to reach Italian coasts.
