This research paper studies the morphological and phonological changes discussed by the scholar Al-Asbahani in his book "I'rab Al-Qur'an". The study specifically focuses on the phenomenon of vowel alteration (al-I'lal), which includes metathesis (al-Qalb), transfer (al-Naql), and deletion (al-Hadhaf). It analyzes Al-Asbahani's views on these issues and compares them with the opinions of earlier and contemporary grammarians. The study adopts a descriptive, inductive, and interpretive approach. The findings indicate that Al-Asbahani placed great importance on phonetic harmony in his justifications and was influenced by various Arabic dialects, such as the dialect of Bani Al-Harith. His preferences were often based on the original form and frequent usage. The paper concludes that Al-Asbahani was an influential scholar in the field of morphology and grammar, offering strong and independent opinions on many complex issues.
