Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of social media as a modern phenomenon that has imposed itself on contemporary societies, especially the youth, who are the most frequent users and interactors. It also aims to study how social media has contributed to reshaping social values among youth, both positively, such as expanding the fields of knowledge and communication, and negatively, such as weakening family ties and spreading alien behavioral patterns.

The research used the descriptive-analytical approach, which is based on reviewing relevant literature and theoretical studies, and analyzing the phenomenon through main interconnected axes:

  • Social media as an influential agent.
  • Social values between positives and negatives.
  • Factors influencing the value transformations of youth.

The research concluded with a set of findings, the most prominent of which was that social media has become a fundamental factor in reshaping social values, and that positive and negative values coexist in the behaviors of youth depending on the nature of their usage and the upbringing they receive.
