This study assessed the application of four operational medical-waste management standards at Al-Hadba Al-Khadra Hospital in Tripoli: segregation and classification, collection, safe internal transport, and temporary storage. A descriptive-analytical cross-sectional design was used. The study population comprised 1,573 medical and allied health personnel. A proportionate stratified random sample of 309 was selected; 271 questionnaires were returned and 263 valid responses were analyzed (net response rate: 85.1%). The 30-item questionnaire showed excellent internal consistency (overall Cronbach’s alpha = 0.971; subscale alpha range = 0.911–0.934). The overall transformed application index was 66.2%. Segregation and classification ranked first (68.0%), followed by safe transport (66.4%), temporary storage (66.3%), and collection (64.0%). All observed means were significantly above their neutral test values (p < 0.001). No statistically significant differences were identified by sex, age, educational qualification, or years of experience. Profession-related differences emerged for collection (p = 0.007) and temporary storage (p = 0.034), with laboratory specialists recording the highest descriptive means. The findings indicate a moderate-to-relatively-high, yet uneven, level of implementation. Major gaps concern staff training, recordkeeping, periodic supervision, and time control for temporary storage. The study recommends standardized operating procedures, unified tracking records, competency-based periodic training, and auditable performance indicators.
